It's cold outside

We've been going in for snow removal almost every day at 4 or 5 in the AM and it is seriously messing with my sleep schedule. As much complaining as I'd like to do for getting so much snow this past week, I really do love working side by side with this sweet guy.

Getting the perfect pic

First, wait for husband to set up camera on tripod and do a little finger dance to stay warm.

Fix hair, and pretend to be a dinosaur.

Act like you just saw something really cool and point.

Say something hilarious!

Don't forget to kiss the husband!

...Not sure about this one.

Or this..

Hug husband sweetly...

and then push him in the snow.

Realize it's just too cold.

Pick the most normal shot to use as Christmas card.

FB time hops

Was I not just saying how crazy time has flown by? I thought it was flying by then...

I have a love hate relationship with my FB time hops. I love them because of posts like this one above. I mean, how cute is Paul for writing all over our bathroom mirror? I think I left that up for a month..

And FB time hops are annoying because of posts like this.. Enjoy!

It must have been snowing? Or I wanted it to snow?

I really did.. Enough to post it on FB I guess.

Is this a JB song? or am I just ca-razy?? (Both)

This has got to be a song. I couldn't come up with this crazy stuff by myself. This one also makes me feel a little sorry for past self.

Classic.

Parent Trap. Also a classic.

Finals and Christmas

It just doesn't feel much like Christmas yet. I think the reason for me is that I'm literally drowning in school work. Paul is too. But we're nearly complete with this semester and I couldn't be happier about it. I have a few tests to take, a project to turn in, and then maybe we can get to our Christmas puzzle we started last week.. (I know, we are such geezers).

Here's a list of things I want to do after this week (finals) is over:

  • Do fifty Christmas puzzles in our living room with Sufjan Stevens Christmas albums playing
  • Drive around town and pick out the best houses with the best lights
  • Sell all our Christmas vinyl decals left over from the craft fair
  • Go shopping for stocking stuffers. We aren't big on presents for Christmas but I think it would be very enjoyable to get some new razors and a toothbrush in a stocking this year. ;)
  • Drink some freaking eggnog
  • Rearrange our living room (I don't really know-So random)
Can we just get to it already?

Pinterest and Christmas

This is Paul and I's Christmas picture from 2 years ago! It seems like yesterday we were in that horrible tiny apartment (even tinier than our apartment now believe it or not) and smoochin away under our tiny Christmas tree. Last year I saw this picture throughout pinterest and I thought it was super weird haha. This year I pinterested "Tangled in Christmas lights" and there we were again! I clicked on it to see where it would lead back to and it was so sad to see that it wouldn't link up to my blog where I originally posted it! So here we go. I'm posting it here in hopes that it might bring some traffic back to it's original home. :)

THE HILLS ARE ALIVE....

Every time Paul is in a group meeting over google hang outs, I have this urge to start singing super loudly. Sometimes I even get up and start dancing around. and SOMETIMES Paul starts laughing in the middle of his meeting.. Yes! That's the best thing ever. I dunno why I think it's so funny.

Right now he's in a meeting and it's taking everything in me not to start singing, "THE HILLS ARE ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF MUUUUSIC!!"

Primary nut heads

It's time for me to brag about the only children I have. Paul and I teach the 7 and 8 year old Primary class in our ward and we LOVE it. These tiny humans are like the ultimate examples of faith and love and kindness. I feel so lucky to be able to be with them every Sunday. They for sure drive me crazy sometimes and I honestly sometimes think they have no clue what we are talking about but they are nice enough to nod their heads and act like we are super awesome teachers haha. We've been called to teach, but I really know we've been called to learn from these children of God.

PVC Pipe Puppet Theater

This post is specifically for a class this semester.
Enjoy some poor lighted pictures of my creation!

Who knew PVC pipe was so AWESOME? When I first started this project I thought, "How in the heck am I going to do this?" Luckily my husband was kind enough to help me out a bit.. especially with cutting the pipe.

So the skeleton is obviously made out of PVC pipe, fabric from wal mart, and Mr. Owl I got from D.I. (Whhaaaa!!). It was fun to make and a lot easier than I thought it would be, although it was time consuming.

So here's your shopping list in case you'd like your very own puppet theater..
  • Four 10 foot 3/4 inch pvc pipes cut to the following lengths:
    • 46 inches x 2
    • 36 inches x 4
    •  23 inches x 2
    • 19 inches x 2
    • 12 inches x 4
    • 6 inches x 4
    • 1.5 inches x 2  (You can’t see these in the photo, but they are between the two tee joints on the bottom.)
  • 8 tee joints
  • 4 side out elbow joints
  • 4 end caps
  • PVC pipe cutter
From there you build yourself the skeleton of your puppet theater. To see an AWESOME blog post about puppet theaters click HERE. My list of materials came from her site and it is, like I said, awesome.

Next you'll need to dress those ugly pipes up with some fancy curtains. I went to Wal Mart and got Four yards of fabric all together (two- Maroon, two- Polka dots). You'll need to do a rolled hem on all raw edges. Once that's been done you can start making your curtains. I wont go in much detail just because it's hard to explain a how-to without detailed pictures (next time I guess).

I didn't have time for this but in the future I want to make flannel backings (one light blue and one dark blue to represent day and night). Along with that I want to make felt props such as trees, castles, houses, or anything that would go along with a story. Putting velcro on the back will make it stick to the backing and would make it even more fun for students to act out their stories.

And there you have it! I love puppet theaters and I think this turned out especially cute.
